Whirlybird predilection towards innovation and a delivering solution has birthed the idea of battery cell monitoring. The telecom infrastructure requires constant battery monitoring in order to maintain a constant power supply to the telecommunication technology to achieve high reliability. This solution from Whirlybird includes WiFi-enabled IOT gateway using MODBUS standard communication protocol as a means of connecting industrial electronic devices. The solution encapsulates two methods of monitoring, one with the MODBUS protocol and another without it. The intuitive and user-friendly monitoring dashboard allows for a bird’s eye view of all the cells with their voltage capacity, active energy, humidity, and temperature on a single screen. The integration with the geospatial map capability allows one to drill down to the location of the site.
The rectifier is used to convert alternating electric current into direct current which feeds battery power into the battery banks, and in turn, is connected with the cell health monitoring system. The rectifier communicates with the WRMS 04 IOT Gateway and the cell monitoring system through MODBUS protocol. The IOT gateway provides additional security to the IoT network and the data it transports. The IoT gateway uses a protocol like WiFi & Ethernet, for example, RS-232 to connect to remote systems via the cloud and networked infrastructure. The data it collates is used by analytical engines to churn out meaningful data, presented in the form of a dashboard.
The AC energy meter calculates the instantaneous voltage and current consumed by the WRMS 04 IoT gateway. In addition, a rectifier converts the alternating current to direct current which is measured by DC energy meter, connected to IoT gateway, through DC parameters. The IoT gateway uses a protocol like WiFi (3G & 4G) & Ethernet, for example, RS-232 to connect to remote systems via the cloud and networked infrastructure. The data it collates is used by analytical engines to churn out meaningful data, presented in the form of a dashboard.
