Inertial Measurement Unit, or IMU, is the main component of the Inertial Guidance System used in vehicles and airborne platforms. It works by sensing its own rate and direction of motion using a combination of accelerometers and gyroscopes, which then allow a guidance computer to track its position using a process known as dead reckoning (DR).

IMU’s from WIMU06 series are 6 Degrees-of-Freedom (3 rate gyros and 3 accelerometers) Inertial Measurement Units based on solid-state MEMS sensors. These are intended for OEM navigation & control, dynamic testing and instrumentation applications. This high reliability strap-down inertial system provides accurate measurement of angular rate and linear acceleration. Whirlybird offers a wide spectrum of IMU based on performance, size and cost. We also provide customized configuration to meet your requirement best.

WIMU06B series is for robotics and control, one of the most cost effective and compact IMUs. Users can select rate gyro and accelerometer based on their requirement.

WIMU06C employs proprietary algorithms to characterize and correct for the effects of temperature, linearity and misalignment. Fully compensated angular rate and acceleration outputs are provided in digital formats.

Each Inertial System comes with a User's Manual offering helpful hints on programming, installation, and product information. In addition, the included software assists you in system development and evaluation, and allows you to perform data acquisition.
